Civics Lab: Sustainable Citizenship Series
Civics Lab: The Benefits of Buying Local with Andrea Knies of Realize Bradenton Friday, January 29. 10 a.m. Email Megan.Robinson@mymanatee.org to register.
Join us for a presentation and conversation about how buying local through small businesses and the Farmers Market stimulates Manatee County’s economy. Participants will be sent a handout of resources and further information on the topic.
Learn the basics of using your Windows 10 computer or laptop such how to use the Start menu, add icons to the toolbar, and find your files and folders. The class will be taught by Microsoft employees.
For January, the discussion will be on "The Little Book Of Lykke" by Meik Wiking. In The Little Book of Lykke, Meik identifies the six factors that explain the majority of differences in happiness across the world-togetherness, money, health, freedom, trust, and kindness-and explores what actions we can take to become happier.
Read and discuss "Atlas Shrugged" this January in our Classics Up Close book discussion. In a scrap heap within an abandoned factory, the greatest invention in history lies dormant and unused. By what fatal error has its value gone unrecognized? In defense of those greatest of human qualities, one man sets out to show what would happen to the world if all the heroes of innovation and industry went on strike. Is he a destroyer or a liberator?
